Project Management Essentials Certificate Program

The Project Management Essentials Certificate Program offered by Extended Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno provides the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully lead and manage any type of project across all areas of business and industry. This 45-hour, three-course series includes both theoretical and practical approaches to project management with hands-on experience working in real-world scenarios.
Effective project management involves coordinating project teams, solving problems, maintaining budgets and meeting deadlines. Participants will examine the basics of project management as well as the framework of initiation, planning, execution, control and closing established by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Concepts will be applied and reinforced through case studies, group interaction and exercises. The program may also serve as partial preparation for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification credential, granted by PMI and recognized worldwide.

Supervisory Management Certificate

Designed for supervisors at all levels — novice, veteran or aspiring — Supervisory Management courses from Extended Studies provide the tools necessary to successfully motivate, lead, think creatively and see the big picture. In a highly interactive setting, program participants will examine the techniques and philosophies that work for their peers and develop strategies to effectively supervise, manage and direct a workforce.
To earn a certificate in Supervisory Management, a student must successfully complete a total of 10 courses, consisting of five Supervisory Management core and any five professional development courses taken as electives. Certificates of completion are awarded at the conclusion of each course. Upon completion of the 10 courses, a Certificate in Supervisory Management will be awarded. Early registration is encouraged.

Business Computer Skills

This new course series offers instruction in Microsoft Office 2007 applications ranging from the basics of word processing to intermediate skills for database management. Six- and 12-hour courses explore introductory to advanced topics in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook 2007. Hands-on practice prepares participants to apply skills immediately in the workplace.
Courses include beginning and intermediate levels of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access.
Classes can be customized by topic and delivered in any computer lab at an employer location.

Offered in partnership with the University’s College of Business, the Advanced Management Program (AMP) is an excellent opportunity to examine and prepare for the dynamic challenges facing today’s companies and organizations. This certificate program will help refine your management skills and broaden your understanding of up-to-the-minute business theory and practice. Convenient evening sessions focus on key concepts, tools and techniques needed to help you manage and lead in today’s challenging business environment.
AMP Managerial and Business Applications is designed specifically for:
